Participate in Earth Day, April 22nd

Participate in Earth Day on April 22nd and help make conservation a daily habit.

The Outdoor Code reminds us to be conservation-minded at all times.

The Outdoor Code

As an American, i will do my best to--

Be clean in my outdoor manners.

Be careful with fire.

Be considerate in the outdoors.

Be conservation minded.

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day this year?

Here are a few ways to get started:

  • Memorize and recite the Outdoor Code regularly in meetings or before hikes and campouts.
  • Make a habit of picking up trash and leaving areas better than found for outdoor activities.
  • Plan an activity to clean a neighborhood.
  • Teach the Outdoor code, Leave No Trace Principles, and TreadLightly during meeting and activities using games, puzzles, or skits.  See or
  • Elect a member of your troop to serve in the leadership position of Outdoor Ethics Guide
  • Attend a Leave No Trace Awareness course as a unit
