What does C.O.P.E. stand for?

Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience

The Camp Simpson C.O.P.E. course consists of 6 High Elements (all more than 18 feet in the air), 13 Low Elements and a 35 foot climbing and rappelling tower. Project C.O.P.E. is an activity that involves a great deal of physical activity, but the "philosophy" of C.O.P.E. stands for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. This activity is designed to benefit the individual by working as a part of a group and is a series of mentally and physically challenging elements designed to develop leadership and teamwork by utilizing goal setting skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills and assertiveness. It is not a competitive activity and one cannot "fail" C.O.P.E.

Eight MAJOR goals commonly associated with Project C.O.P.E. are:
  • Communications
  • Planning
  • Teamwork
  • Trust
  • Leadership Development
  • Decision Making
  • Problem Solving
  • Self Esteem

The C.O.P.E. course is a highly effective tool available to build and strengthen the individual and group.

The Camp Simpson C.O.P.E. course is comprised of a series of obstacles and challenges designed to implement problem solving skills and group interaction that will help develop LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SELF-ESTEEM, TEAMWORK, PROBLEM-SOLVING, TRUST, COMMUNICATION, DECISION MAKING and FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

These things are accomplished through obstacles and challenges that force the group to work together, communicate with each other, and trust the group decision as they attempt to find a solution to the obstacle. The Low Elements include: 10-foot wall, Trust Fall, Tire Swing, Wild Woosie, Nitro Crossing, Shrinking boxes, Rope Criss-Cross, Zig Zag Balance Beam, Crocodile Crossing, Swinging log, Mountain Top and two more. The High Elements include: 300 foot Zip Line, Multi-vine, Pamper Pole, Giants Ladder, Log Walk, Monkey Bridge (all of which are more than 18 feet in the air), plus our 35 foot Climbing and Rappelling Tower.
